Alvaro Morata believes that the Spanish national team was underestimated before winning Euro 2024. I had to read that I wasn`t good enough to be captain, that we weren`t a good team, that winning the Euros was impossible. It wasn`t revenge because at the end of the day I don`t have to prove anything to anyone, but it was great.
There will be documentaries and materials [about the Euro] and people will be able to see what we have achieved. England and France are two of the best teams, but I think we are the best because of our team spirit. I think this is the reason we won.
Before the tournament, I gave an interview to a Spanish publication. I got a little angry because they told me: There is no world class player in Spain. They don`t have a star. I replied: For me, Merino, Fabian [Ruiz], Olmo are stars. All of them. These players were the best at the Euro. They helped us win.
From that moment on, everything changed. These guys were not appreciated in Spain. It`s a pity that only after the victory at the Euro did everyone understand how good the Spanish players are, " said the striker of Milan and the Spanish national team.
